What does it do? 

Are you writing a screenplay, stageplay, graphic novel, or multi-cam sitcom? WriterDuet has then all and more! Each of the 12 templates is formatted to industry standards. As a Pro user, you can even create your own template and save it for later use.

Set New Project Document Template

  1. After opening a new project, the Project Info widget will appear
  2. Title your project
  3. Open the Doc Template drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired template
    1. Screenplay
    2. Stageplay
    3. Mutli-Cam Sitcom
    4. Single-Cam Sitcom
    5. UK Stageplay - Pro feature
    6. Compact Stageplay - Pro feature
    7. Audio/Visual
    8. Virtual Reality
    9. Right-to-Left Screenplay
    10. Book
    11. Graphic Novel
    12. Notes


Change Document Template

This will affect the entire doc and adjust all formatting.

  1. Select Format > Document Template > Default Templates
  2. Select the desired template
  3. Select Apply Template
    1. If content already exists in the doc, we suggest refreshing the page twice to ensure formatting has been properly applied to the whole doc.

OR

  1. Select Customize > Misc
  2. Next to Document Type, open the drop-down
  3. Select the desired template
  4. Select Apply Template
    1. If content already exists in the doc, we suggest refreshing the page twice to ensure formatting has been properly applied to the whole doc.


Create Your Own Template - Pro Feature

This will save any formatting changes you have made, so you can use this template again and again.

  1. Use the Customize and Format menus to set the desired formatting for each line type and the doc.
  2. Select Format > Document Template > Export Template
  3. Select the desired option:
    1. Formatting Only will export only the formatting
    2. Include Content will include all of the content in the doc
  4. Template will save to your device
    1. In the Browser app, it will save to your downloads as: Documents-[Project Title].wdt
    2. In the Desktop app, you can select the save-to location and the title for the file.


Apply Your Own Template- Pro Feature

  1. Open the project/doc you wish to apply the template to.
  2. Select Format > Document Template > Apply Template
  3. Select Continue
  4. Select Choose File
  5. Select the file from its saved location on your device
  6. Template will be applied to the doc.
