Keyboard Shortcuts

On Mac, you can use both Control (Ctrl) and Command (Cmd) interchangeably for shortcuts. Option and Alt are also interchangeable.

  • Ctrl/Cmd + Z – Undo
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Y – Redo
  • Ctrl/Cmd + F – Search for text
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + D – Start (or Stop) dictation
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + F – Enter (or leave) full-screen mode
  • Ctrl/Cmd + O – View list of all your scripts (the same as going to File>Open)
  • Ctrl/Cmd + D – Make lines into dual dialogue
  • Ctrl/Cmd + K – Drop (or remove) a pin to return to
  • Ctrl/Cmd + J – Move cursor to previously dropped pin
  • Ctrl/Cmd + G – Go to a page or scene number
  • Ctrl/Cmd + B – Bold
  • Ctrl/Cmd + I – Italic
  • Ctrl/Cmd + U – Underline
  • Ctrl/Cmd + E – Highlight
  • Ctrl/Cmd + L – Color
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Shift+X – Strikethrough
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Shift+K – Insert hyperlink
  • Ctrl/Cmd + A – Select all
  • Ctrl/Cmd + P – Print
  • Ctrl/Cmd + ] – Add revision mark
  • Ctrl/Cmd + [ – Remove revision mark
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Alt/Option + ] – Increase right margin
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Alt/Option + [ – Decrease right margin
  • Alt/Option + Arrow Down – Move current selection down one line
  • Alt/Option +Arrow Up – Move current selection up one line
  • Ctrl/Cmd + / – Lowercase selection, or stop line auto-caps
  • Ctrl/Cmd + \ – Uppercase selection, or make line auto-caps
  • Ctrl/Cmd + . – Open line notes
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + . – Open all notes
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Shfit + T – Open line tags
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 1 – Change line type to Scene (or first line type in list)
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 2 – Change line type to Action (or second line type in list)
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 3 – Change line type to Character (or third line type in list)
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 4 – Change line type to Parenthetical (or fourth line type in list)
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 5 – Change line type to Dialogue (or fifth line type in list)
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 6 – Change line type to Transition (or first sixth type in list)
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 7 – Change line type to Shot (or seventh line type in list)
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 8 – Change line type to Text (or eighth line type in list)
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 9 – Change line type to Note (or ninth line type in list)
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 0 – Change line type to Outline
    • Note: Alt/Option shortcuts are off by default to allow easier access to quick accent marks. You can turn them on under Customize > Editing.
  • Alt/Option + C – Change line type to Character
  • Alt/Option + D – Change line type to Dialogue
  • Alt/Option + P – Change line type to Parenthetical
  • Alt/Option + A – Change line type to Action
  • Alt/Option + S – Change line type to Scene
  • Alt/Option + H- Change line type to Shot
  • Alt/Option + T – Change line type to Transition
  • Alt/Option + X- Change line type to Text
  • Alt/Option + O- Change line type to Note
  • Alt/Option + V- Change line type to New Act/End Act/Lyrics
